Design a Consulting Offer Tastier than Tacos (How to Package Your Services)
Feb 26, 2026
You’re craving tacos with an animal hunger.
You claw your way to the nearest taco truck and ask for the menu, ready to pick three tortilla-wrapped pockets of glory.
“We don’t have a menu,” says the server. “We custom-make every taco however you want it. What ingredients would you like in your taco?”
WHAT?!?!
ARE.
YOU.
KIDDING.
ME.
“You’re supposed to be the taco expert!” you growl, “How should I know if you sprinkle cumin on the carne?!”
It sounds ridiculous. And yet… this is how many consultants talk about their services.
When a potential client asks, “What does a typical project look like?” it feels like an invitation to explain how each project is bespoke and customized to their needs.
But what they hear is: This person expects me to figure it out.
If they already knew what to do, they wouldn’t be talking to a consultant.
Your future client is drowning in email, triple-booked with meetings, and terrified of choosing the wrong vendor and looking like a baboon.
Be a sense-maker. Give them the clarity they crave.
Create your own taco menu by productizing your consulting services into an offer.
Instead of “advice” or “access to your brain,” they get a clear, mouth-watering picture of exactly what you do.
What's more appetizing? ”Leadership consulting” or “The 90-day SPARK Leadership Reset.”
Then you're not trying to sell them on a customized project. You're giving them confidence that you know what you're doing because you've done it before.
The 5 Components of A Clear Offer
A strong consulting offer isn’t complicated. It just needs these 5 components:
- A clear PROBLEM it solves. (If there's no pain, there's no sale.)
- A tangible OUTCOME it delivers. (What do they get at the end? An artifact, a report, or a roadmap? A successful product launch? A workshop?)
- A proprietary METHOD for how you do it. (This is your unique process, or special sauce, like my DARMA™ method for customer journey mapping.)
- A estimated DURATION. (How long will it take?)
- A specific INVESTMENT. (Clarity on price builds trust.)
When you articulate your offer with these five components, your clients get a vivid picture of what you can do for them and the confidence that you know what you’re doing.
Yes, you can customize it for the scope and complexity of their situation, but the heart of the offer remains the same.
And as you win clients, complete projects, and rack up success stories?
You become known for the work.
You’re invited on podcasts to talk about your method. You land speaking engagements because of your expertise. And the best part? People start coming to you because of your reputation as the expert for your offer.
When you package your services into a clear, compelling offer you finally put tacos on the menu.
